About David Aster
How it all began
The business behind David Aster started in 1982 from a kitchen table in Devon by my Dad David Larcombe. He quickly built up a reputation for supplying jewellers and boutiques with quality cufflinks and men’s accessories, outgrowing the kitchen (much to Mum’s delight) and moving first into the garage, and then into a barn on the family farm. Over the years the company continued to grow, developing into a great team of people, many of whom are still with us today.
End of an era, and a new beginning
The company moved into new premises in early 2005, but a few short weeks later, Dad was tragically killed in an accident. Having recently finished University, I returned home to help Mum wherever I could. I’m not sure exactly when I realised how important the business had become to me, but now I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else, and I’m enormously proud to be carrying on the work that my Dad started before I was born.
In 2018, we decided to create a new brand and retail site, David Aster, taking its name from my late Father and adopting the striking peacock as the brands icon. My Dad was a bit of a peacock himself, always suited and booted; dressed to impress! This beautiful creature is also what the brand represents – luxurious products that add a flourish of creativity, exclusivity and personality to a man’s attire.
We now design and distribute cufflinks and men’s gifts to customers all over the world. We love creating new designs and products, and maintain our roots here in Devon, surrounded by the glorious countryside, and a couple of peacocks!
